LA Hacks is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit whose flagship program is a free, student-focused technology hackathon at UCLA. For 15 years we have helped students learn by building—through project development, workshops, mentorship, and industry engagement.

For 36 hours every spring at UCLA Pauley Pavilion, students develop technology projects while learning new skills, collaborating with teammates, and receiving guidance from experienced builders and industry professionals.
Students of different experience levels can participate. The weekend is designed around learning through hands-on project development, with educational resources and support available throughout the event.
Workshops are a core part of the hackathon. Students can attend technical and educational sessions during the event. Outside the annual hackathon, LA Hacks also occasionally hosts workshops and educational events with companies and industry professionals.
During the hackathon, students connect with mentors from industry and the broader technology community—including over 50 industry mentors at recent events—who help with ideas, debugging, and learning new technologies.
Companies and technology professionals participate through mentorship, workshops, talks, judging, and other educational opportunities that help students connect classroom skills to real-world practice.
